OREANDA-NEWS. February 02, 2010. A new large-scale terrorist act occurred in Baghdad on February 1, according to news reports. A female suicide bomber blew herself up in a crowd of Shia pilgrims marching to Karbala, killing more than 40 people and wounding over 100 others.

In this connection we reaffirm our oft-stated principled position of resolute condemnation of such bloody crimes and support of the efforts of the Iraqi government and people to curb the evil of terrorism. No arguments or political goals can justify the murder and suffering of innocent people.

We extend our condolences to the kith and kin of the dead and sympathy for those injured.
