OREANDA-NEWS. August 25, 2009. As of 24 August, around 309,000 hectares under grain and leguminous crops apart for maize (or 93.1% of the plan) have been already cropped in the Gomel oblast. It is the richest harvest for the recent 18 years.

According to him, the previous record crop was harvested in 2008. Then, agricultural companies of the Gomel oblast harvested 1.051,000 tonnes of grain. In 2007, the Gomel oblast harvested 797,000 tonnes of grain, in 2007 – 808,500 tonnes of grain.

According to specialists, this year, agricultural companies of the region intend to harvest 50,000 tonnes of grain more. In early September, the Gomel oblast will start harvest millet, sorgo, buckwheat.
