OREANDA-NEWS. August 3, 2009. Dmitry Medvedev expressed his condolences to President of the Philippines Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo following the passing of former President of the Republic Corazon Aquino.

The President of Russia's telegramme reads, in part: “The name of Corazon Aquino is associated with a period of profound reforms and the democratic transformation of Filipino society.”

Mr Medvedev also noted that Corazon Aquino showed great interest and sympathy to Russia and prioritised the development of Russian-Filipino relations.
