Riyadh Applauds to Envoys of Turkmen Culture
OREANDA-NEWS. May 25, 2009. Days of Turkmen Culture was opened in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The opening ceremony was held at King Fadh Cultural Centre, which became the centre of attraction for numerous admirers of Turkmen culture and friends of our country.
The age-old historical and cultural affinities between two peoples laid the reliable foundation for enhancing multiaspect cooperation between two friendly countries nowadays and expanding humanitarian contacts that was vividly illustrated by this visit of cultural workers of Turkmenistan in Saudi Arabia where they are welcomed hospitably and heartily.
The fact of holding the Days of Turkmen Culture testifies to the qualitatively new level of the intergovernmental dialogue intensified through the efforts of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz Al-Saud.
The cultural presentation began with the documentary about modern accomplishments of the independent neutral Turkmen state particularly in reviving the national culture and art.
The popular singers and folk artists, renowned artistic groups of Turkmenistan presented a big performance of folk melodies and songs, inflammatory dances at the Cultural Centre.
An exposition vividly presenting the unique customs, rich cultural traditions and art of the Turkmen people was organized in the framework of the cultural forum. The visitors could enjoy ancient national costumes, fine works of decorative and applied art – an indissoluble and important component of the spiritual and material culture of the nation who had considerably contributed to development of human civilization.
The exposition included the paintings created by the Turkmen artists and representing different genres of modern fine art – the portraits of our contemporaries, landscapes, bright still-life paintings as if absorbing generosity of the southern sun and picturesque scenes. The pictures depict the heroic episodes of the Turkmen history and signs of modern times. The canvases capturing the unique beauty of the native land, historical and architectural monuments of Turkmenistan and the pictures glorifying grandiose changes going on in the country in the epoch of Great Revival create the special emotional atmosphere.
Silver jewellery with carnelians made by skilful Turkmen masters is of particular interest to the visitors. The living exhibits – Turkmen hunting dogs – tazy and falcons – faithful companions of Turkmen hunters attract great attention.
Bulat Mansurov’s feature film “The Competition” – dubbed in the Arabic language introduced the classical Turkmen cinematography to the audience.
The Turkmen cultural delegation will visit Jidda to hold a series of events aiming to introduce the traditions and modern accomplishments of the national culture of Turkmenistan to the people of the friendly country.
