OREANDA-NEWS. On December 24, a regular meeting of the Government Commission for the Affairs of Compatriots Abroad was held at the Foreign Ministry under the chairmanship of Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs/State Secretary Grigory Karasin.

The meeting summed up the work done with compatriots in 2008, approved a plan of Commission meetings and principal events for 2009, and heard a communication on progress in the introduction of amendments and modifications to the Law on Russian Federation State Policy toward Compatriots Abroad.
