Winter Concerns of Turkmen Cattle Breeders
OREANDA-NEWS. December 19, 2008. Winter is the time of the special concerns for Turkmen cattle breeders who are to fulfill the designated tasks and to create the favourable conditions for cattle stock in winter. For these purposes the cattle farms affiliated with the agricultural joint stock companies of the Turkmenmallary Association carried out the necessary activities: made the enclosures warmer, selected the grazing lands for pasturing young animals and adult cattle in winter.
This season the cattle farms are to ensure the favourable conditions for about 1.8 million heads of small livestock and over 50,000 heads of cattle and 16,000 camels. Till the last days cattle agricultural workers were engaged in storing hay and other fodder. The agricultural workers in the Lebap and the Mary velayats achieved the highest results. In many settlements hay has been delivered to the winter pastures.
According to the Turkmenmallary Association, the cattle farms were provided with the necessary materials to construct and repair sheep sheds and enclosures for cattle stock. Some brigades constructed the additional sheds so that herds of cattle could be pastured in the reserve grazing areas.
