Dmitry Medvedev Visited Agriculture Enterprises in Dmitrovsky District
OREANDA-NEWS. November 12, 2008. Dmitry Medvedev visited agriculture enterprises in Dmitrovsky District and met with the members of the Central Council of the Russian Agrarian Movement.
The meeting discussed ways to make Russia’s agriculture sector more competitive, protect and regenerate land resources, make the sector more attractive for investment, carry out infrastructure projects, ensure credit resources for production and processing businesses in the sector and for agricultural machinery-building.
Earlier in the day, Mr Medvedev visited the laboratories of company AgroPark in the village of Rogachyovo and learned about the production of a mini potato tuber that has genetic resistance to viral diseases.
The President saw models of houses that AgroPark builds for people living in rural districts.
The AgroPark Group produces virus-free high reproduction and seed potatoes. Its biotechnology centre, which can produce up to 500,000 mini-tubers a year, has been operating since 2005.
Mr Medvedev also visited the Dmitrovsky Ovoshchi Holding in the village of Bunyatino. The President saw examples of the agricultural equipment used at the enterprise and the livestock farm. The Holding has 3,800 hectares of agricultural land, nine vegetable storage centers and three farms.
