OREANDA-NEWS. November 5, 2008. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a working trip around Ashgabat. Vice Premier D. Orazov and Ashgabat Khyakim A. Bilishov accompanied the Turkmen leader on the trip to inspect the progress of construction of social facilities including apartment houses.

The Turkmen leader visited the construction site in the southern part of Turkmenbashi Avenue where a supermodern 18-km highway would be built parallel to Archabil Avenue along the Kopetdag range. On the initiative of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov the complex of social and cultural facilities would spring up in this part of the Turkmen capital in the near future.

Then the President’s cortege headed for the city centre. The President visited the construction site of the town of art. The architectural ensemble would include the buildings of the Turkmen State Institute of Culture, specialized musical and secondary schools, kindergarten, three apartment houses for workers of culture and art. Taking to the local workers about the pace of construction and the existing problems President talked with focusing on the significance of this project and instructed the relevant high-ranking officials to show more concern for implementation of the important construction projects.

The President visited the large construction site of the town of financial and economic institutions. It would be built to the northwest of the intersection of 10 Years of Prosperity Avenue and Ataturk Avenue and include the buildings of the Turkmen State Institute of Economy and Management, students’ hostel, school, kindergarten, apartment houses and shopping centres. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that future specialists of the national economy would live and work there.

The President visited the construction site of the Children’s World store located nearby the Puppet Theatre. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chose the construction sites of the new administrative buildings of Halkbank Commercial Bank and large shopping centre. 

During the trip around the city the Turkmen leader focused attention on the issues of neighbourhood improvement and sanitary state of the city. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed the relevant high-ranking officials to continue construction works of the mud canal in the southwest of Ashgabat. The President focused on the necessity of applying the landscape elements as most complying with the modern urban development requirements and the conception of development of Turkmenistan’s largest city.

Then the President visited the building of the Cabinet of Ministers on Neutrality Avenue. The building of historical value had been recently reconstructed to be used as the residence of the President of Turkmenistan in accordance with the special resolution of the Turkmen leader.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a brief meeting on the results of the working trip around the city in one of the rooms. Emphasizing that the high quality of construction works and observance of the period of construction remained the major requirements set to the contracting companies engaged in construction in Turkmenistan the Presdient demanded that Vice Premier D. Orazov and Ashgabat Khyakim A. Bilishov should guarantee the fulfillment of these requirements as the essential factors of successful implementation of the large-scale programmes on development of urban and rural areas in the country.
