50,5% of Moldovan Population Consider Country Develops in Wrong Way
OREANDA-NEWS. November 01, 2008. According to the results of the poll "Public opinion Barometer", held in September-October, 2008 and presented, only 27,9 % of the respondents consider that the country goes in the right direction.
In comparison with the previous poll held in April-March, 2008, the situation has not significantly changed. Then 59,6 % of interrogated considered that the country goes in the wrong direction, and 26,1 % - expressed opposite opinion.
By the results of the present poll, only 3,2 % of population consider that now economic situation in Moldova is much better than one year ago and 30,8 % - that it has improved a little. 39,4 % consider that the situation has not changed, 14,1 % - that situation has worsened a little and 6 % think that it has worsened considerably.
Answering the question, if they are happy with the present economic situation in Moldova, 43,6 % of the respondents have told that are not happy, 42,1 % - have given neither positive, nor negative answer.
Only 8,6 % of interrogated have declared that are rather happy, and 0,3 % - are very happy with the economic situation in the country. 32,4 % of interrogated think that in a year economic situation in Moldova will not change, 28,1 % hope that the situation will change for the better, 13,1 % consider that situation will worsen, and 26,4 % could not answer.
At the same time, according to the poll, 70,2 % of population have no sufficient means for investments, 4,1 % have no savings as they already invested them, and only 2,4 % are ready to invest.
Meanwhile, 12,4 % have answered that they have savings, but only for the "black" day, 1,9 % - are afraid to invest, and 0,8 % - do not know where to invest. 24,8 % of population expect better performance of legislation, 11,5 %- better state management in the economy, 10,4 % - development of industrial enterprises, 10 % - change of the country leaders, 7,9 % - corruption prevention, 7,6 % - attraction of largest volume of foreign investments, 7,5 % - granting more privileges to the private sector, 6,5 % - support of the small farms, 4,4 % - provision of citizens’ property protection.
The basic concerns of the respondents are connected with prices, poverty, unemployment, children’s future, corruption, illness, hunger, criminality and absence of heat supply during the cold period of the year.
