Interstate Council on Antimonopoly Policy Held Session
OREANDA-NEWS. On October 1-2, 2008 in Astana (Republic of Kazakhstan) the XXVIII Session of the Interstate Council on Antimonopoly Policy (ICAP) took place, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
The agenda of the Session consisted of the number of issues of great interest for the antimonopoly authorities of the CIS member-states such as realization of the system of control over observance of competition conditions at granting state aid, reforming f the railway transport, competition policy in housing market, etc.
The results of the activity of the Headquarters on joint investigations of violations of the antimonopoly legislation in CIS member-states were considered as well. The members of the ICAP will discussed specific steps on the realization of recommendations that were reflected in the Report on the state of competition in the air transportation markets of the CIS member-states which had been prepared by the Headquarters. It is worth mentioning that this Report was discussed at the meeting of the Commission on economic issues under the Economic Council of the CIS on July 9, 2008 and on September 12, 2008 it was approved at the Session of the CIS Economic Council.
Taking into account the importance of the questions under discussion and the usefulness of the recommendations elaborated, the Economic Council took a decision to submit this Report to the discussion at the Meeting of the Heads of the Governments of the CIS member-states. The year of 2008 is the year of transport in the CIS and the proposals on the development of competition in the air transportation, securing the accessibility of the air transport are of great importance and provide for the development of integration processes in the CIS member-states, mentioned the Head of the Headquarters Mr. Anatoly Golomolzin.
Besides, during the Session the participants exchanged opinions on the market researches and analysis in telecommunication sphere. In December the antimonopoly officials prepare to summaries this issue that is of great concern of the CIS citizens. At that particular time one more joint project - the grain markets research- will be launched. This commodity forms the whole chain of food products. The decision to start examination of cartel collusions and research in the market of fuels and lubricants was taken as well.
It is necessary to underline that the forthcoming Session was timed to the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Council' establishment.
Besides, on October 3, 2008 the International Conference "Role of the Antimonopoly Policy in Increase of the Competitiveness of a State" organized by the Agency for Protection of Competition of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held.
