Dmitry Medvedev Visited the Chukotka Heritage Museum
OREANDA-NEWS. September 23, 2008. At the museum the head of the state familiarised himself with a virtual exposition called Point of Reference, which allows one to ‘travel’ in Chukotka by viewing the works of masters of decorative and applied arts and bone carving, an exhibition of the life and culture of indigenous peoples from ancient times to the present day.
Then the President attended a concert of the Chukchi-Inuit Ergyron Ensemble (‘Sunrise’ in Chukchi). The ensemble has existed since 1968 and has won prizes in international competitions and festivals.
Dmitry Medvedev also visited the Cathedral of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity, built in 2005. The cathedral, built of pine and larch, serves up to a thousand parishioners.
