OREANDA-NEWS. September 11, 2008. The leadership of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) trusts the present Moldovan government and notes that the policies it promotes have good results already, reported the Official website http://gov.md/.

The statement was made by the head of the IMF European Department Graeme Justice within a meeting with Moldovan Prime Minister Zinaida Greceanii.

Graeme Justice said that encouraging evolutions took place in Moldova's economy, taking into account the situation in the region.

The IMF official noted that the National Bank of Moldova is successfully reducing pressure on the demand, the budgetary results are good, and basic inflation is going down, and not only due to the decrease of food prices. This is an important achievement of the Moldovan government, taking into account the inflation pressure and the increase in prices for energy resources, Justice said.

The mission is going to examine the draft law on the 2009 budget and to monitor the actions stipulated in the IMF-Moldova programme. The fifth IMF mission for the programme's formal evaluation is to visit Chisinau in November 2008.

Zinaida Greceanii thanked Graeme Justice for the appreciations and expressed her conviction that the mission will carry out its activity successfully, with the draft budget law due to be presented to the parliament by 1 October 2008. "It's important for the budget to be argumented, and our actions should have maximal efficiency," Greceanii said.

The mission of the International Monetary Fund, led by Graeme Justice, is on an 11-18 September visit to Chisinau.
