OREANDA-NEWS. August 29, 2008. The State Commission on Mitigation of Fire Consequences at military storage facilities in the Kharkiv region (East Ukraine) took a decision on examining all military arsenals disposed on the Ukrainian territory, First Vice Prime Minister Oleksandr Turchynov told journalists in an interview in the city of Lozova, Kharkiv region, following a flight over a territory of the troop unit, where an emergency situation occurred, and a meeting of the Governmental commission.

As earlier reported, on Wednesday a forest fire has emerged in the Lozova district, Kharkiv region, which spread to neighboring artillery depots with 95 thousand tons of the ammunition stored there. Yesterday, at 16:00 p.m. explosions started at storage facilities, where they continue till the present time.

The population of neighboring villages has been evacuated.
