OREANDA-NEWS. August 22, 2008. Ukraine is able to build high-quality roads to comply with the European standards. Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko announced during a grand opening of Kharkiv-Krasnograd-Pereshchepyne highway in Kharkiv region.

 “Today we have made one more step towards building Europe in Ukraine, towards building European standards,” Premier emphasized. According to Yulia Tymoshenko, opening of the mentioned road will improve transit potential of Ukraine, in particular, will facilitate to trade turnover increase. The Head of Government emphasized, today Ukraine has all the opportunities to become a so-called bridge for all the European states.

Yulia Tymoshenko informed Kharkiv-Krasnograd-Pereshchepyne automobile road is significant for Ukraine as it connects a huge segment of a transit road from North to South. Prime Minister stressed that within the nearest time the mentioned highway is planned to be completed to Dnipropetrovsk and then Ukraine will possess a completed north-south corridor.

In addition Yulia Tymoshenko aired Kharkiv-Krasnograd-Pereshchepyne road appears one the best first category roads in Ukraine. Prime Minister of Ukraine expressed her gratitude to construction enterprises involved into building of the highway. According to the Head of Government, nowadays Ukraine has builders capable to construct roads of high quality and within the shortest terms.

At this Premier informed that the cost of automobile road Kharkiv-Krasnograd-Pereshchepyne is threefold down from the cost of analogous highways in Europe. Yulia Tymoshenko was quoted as saying, in average the cost of one kilometer of this road amounts 3.6-3.9 MN USD as compared to 10 MN USD per kilometer in Europe. “This highway is the proof we are starting to build a new Europe in Ukraine and it is a real Ukrainian breakthrough,” the Head of Government declared.
