Dmitry Medvedev Made Working Visit to Smolensk Region
OREANDA-NEWS. July 31, 2008. During his visit the head of state held a meeting on the protection of the property rights of small and medium businesses, had a working meeting with Governor of the Smolensk region Sergei Antufev, and met with representatives of small businesses of the city of Gagarin.
In his speech at the meeting on the protection of the property rights of small and medium businesses, the head of state emphasised the need for improving legislation in the field of entrepreneurship.
The President noted that creation of a favourable business and investment climate in Russia is the common task of the state, law enforcement agencies and the business community.
During the meeting Dmitry Medvedev also told about signing the Anti-Corruption Plan.
The President discussed issues relating to the development of small businesses in the region, particularly the possibility of lowering the tax rate on real estate, with Governor of the Smolensk region Sergei Antufyev. Mr Antufyev promised to discuss this matter further with representatives of public associations.
During a meeting with representatives of small businesses the participants discussed the implementation of legislation aimed at eliminating unnecessary administrative barriers as well as the terms governing bank loans.
Earlier in the day the head of state visited the Yuri Gagarin Memorial Museum, laid flowers on the monument to the first astronaut, toured the Museum’s exhibit which displays the personal belongings and photos of Yuri Gagarin, and left a message in the book of honoured guests.
The President also visited the Bambi Knitwear Factory and examined product samples.
