OREANDA-NEWS. July 31, 2008. A delegation of the Ahal Velayat consisting of the khyakims of the Ahal Velayat, etraps and towns arrived in the Lebap Velayat. The aim of the visit was to study the state of affairs and the experience of economic management in various sectors of the economy of the eastern region.

A group of the guests visited Lebapgyzsuv production association, the experimental machining and overhaul shop, Buyan agro-industrial complex, Turkmenabat silk production association and the construction sites of social facilities. The other group visited the farmers associations in Galkynysh, Garashsyzlyk and Serdarabat Etrap and the agricultural plantations to monitor the progress of the seasonal works and preparations for the sowing and cotton picking campaigns. Special attention was paid to effective operation of machines and equipment and the results of tests of the agricultural machines of various kinds under the soil and climatic conditions of the eastern region. These issues had been raised by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during the recent working trip to the Baharly Etrap. The Lebap specialists also shared their expertise and findings in looking after cotton plantations – inter-row cultivation, control of pests, etc.

The local agricultural workers, the high-ranking officials including the heads of the subdivisions of the Ministry of Agriculture – Turkmenpagta, Turkmengallaonumleri. Turkmenobahyzmat and the members of the delegation met in Jeikhun farmers association to specify the approaches to the fulfillment of the tasks set by the President during the recent sittings of the Cabinet of Ministers and working trips to the regions aimed at accelerating the reforms initiated in the country, ensuring the success for the large-scale social and economic programmes guaranteeing economic growth and the people’s welfare.

These approaches closely related to the growth of production of grain, cotton and other agricultural crops, effective use of machines and arable lands, improvement of the soil conditions in the region, application of advanced agrotechnologies, improvement of selective breeding activities, etc. Hence, emphasis was put on the importance of studying the experience accumulated by many generations of agricultural workers and the best farmers associations, actively exchanging knowledge and experience, carrying out the thorough participatory analysis of the problems the regions faced and holding consultations to work out the joint effective solutions to these problems.

Further development of the agro-industrial complex in the Lebap Velayat, the upcoming cotton picking and sowing campaigns, rural development in the framework of the National Programme on improvement of the social and living conditions in rural areas till 2020 were the focus of the meeting.
