Russian Navy Resumes Military Presence in Arctic Area
OREANDA-NEWS. July 14, 2008. The Russian Navy has resumed a warship presence in the Arctic, including in the area of Spitsbergen.
The large anti-submarine ship Severomorsk, has already entered the area. From July 17 the missile cruiser Marshal Ustinov will arrive to carry out tasks.
Sorties of warships of the Russian Northern Fleet will be conducted periodically with a necessary regularity.
All actions of the Russian warships are carried out in strict accordance with the International regulations, including the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (1982).
