OREANDA-NEWS. July 14, 2008. Head of the Chancellery of the Government of Georgia Kakha Bendukidze participated in the work of the International Summer School which was held on July 7-13 in Bakuriani.

This was an International Interdisciplinary Summer School representing a joint project with participation of the Institute of Economics Studies Europe, the CATO Institute and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation as well as of the New Economic School – Georgia and the Tbilisi Free University.

The curriculum was completely dedicated to the analysis of economic freedom performed by the economists, philosophers and historians.

On July 11, Kakha Bendukidze presented before the audience of the International Summer School a lecture concerning the reforms being under implementation in Georgia in 2004-2008. Among them were the ongoing reforms in energy, education and financial sectors, as well as in improving the environment for enterprising, healthcare system and other spheres.

According to Kakha Bendukidze’s words, despite very important changes already in place, the reform process should continue forth.

– “Much more should be done in the process of ensuring pensions, in public education sphere and utilization of the natural resources, as well as pertaining to improvement and reform of the judiciary system. Yet the success of the reforms relies greatly on the perception of people and the mode of thinking of the citizens of Georgia. The government will hardly be able to achieve any success per se without the support of the population of the country”, – Kakha Bendukidze asserted.
