OREANDA-NEWS. June 26, 2008. A Ukrainian citizen, crewmember of Chevron ship (USA) captured in Nigeria one and half month ago, was released from captivity, Foreign Ministry spokesmen Vasyl Kyrylych said.

The Ukrainian citizen was conveyed to Port Harcourt accompanied by representatives of the Nigerian Security Service. An issue on his return to Ukraine is being considered.

As it was earlier reported, Nigerian pirates captured the ship with 11 crewmembers demanding USD 250,000 ransom from a ship-owner.
