OREANDA-NEWS. June 24, 2008. With assistance of NATO Azerbaijan is to adopt (Strategic Defense Review; SDR) in 2009, in which it will analyze state of affairs in the area of national security, stated Kamil Khasiyev, the head of the Azerbaijani mission in NATO.

“After concrete approach papers in the area of security are ready we carry out analysis of whole security system and all defence institutions and in compliance with this concept we set concrete challenges,” Khasiyev said explaining essence of this document.

The Azerbaijani representative in NATO said that role of the North-Atlantic alliance in the process of SDR passing is to render assistance from angle of methodology.

“Adoption of this document will become possible after Azerbaijan that has already passed National Security Concept will also endorse Military Doctrine. As a whole, the Doctrine is ready. It will be discussed and presented within the inter-department workgroup,” Khasiyev said.
