Over 700 Localities Cut Off Current due to Heavy Storm in Lviv Region
OREANDA-NEWS. June 24, 2008. As many as 771 localities in eight regions of Lviv region were de-energized as a result of a heavy storm on June 23. Complicated synoptic situation on the territories of western Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi and Chernivtsi regions was accompanied by storms, heavy rain and squally wind, the Emergency Ministry press-service reported.
Lviv was temporarily cut off current, more than 200 trees were beat down. Train traffic was suspended on six railway routes.
Two persons died as a result of fall of building structures and trees. 5 were injured and taken into hospital. A lighting stroke killed another two persons in storm in the village of Tarnavka, Staryi Sambir district.
