OSCE to Provide Assistance to Units of Belarus Border Service
OREANDA-NEWS. June 16, 2008. The OSCE will give assistance to the State Border Committee of Belarus in providing equipment to the analytical units of the border troops. A memorandum on prolongation and the plan of action to the international technical aid project “Development of the system of registration and analysis of unlawful acts on the state border of the Republic of Belarus” was signed in Minsk June 13.
The major objective of the project is to provide technical assistance to the analytical units of the border troops and enhance the professional level of border officers, said First Deputy Chairman of the State Border Committee Vadim Zaitsev who signed the documents on the part of Belarus.
“Belarus plays an important role of a transit country and we would like to develop the registration and analysis systems at the border with Belarus,” said Hans Jochen Schmidt, Chief of the OSCE Office in Minsk.
Finland, Germany and Norway are the donors of this ?90,000 project. The project will be completed by the end of 2008.
