Dmitry Medvedev Presented Awards to Global Energy International Prize
OREANDA-NEWS. June 9, 2008. In 2008, the Global Energy International Prize was awarded to:
Academician Oleg Favorsky (Russia) for his research works in the field of applied gasdynamics and the development of gas turbine engines for highly efficient gas compressors;
Academician Eduard Volkov (Russia) and Doctor Clement Bowman (Canada) for the development of highly efficient technologies and utilities for extracting oil from oil shale and oil sands, thus contributing to the energy saving problem of humanity.
The Global Energy prize was established in 2002 at the initiative of leading Russian scientists.
Since then the prize has been awarded to 17 famous scientists from 8 countries: Russia, USA, Germany, France, Japan, Great Britain, Iceland and Canada. 30 scientists from 10 different countries were part of the international committee that awarded the prize. The nominees for the prize change annually and in total include 1200 scientists from 45 different countries.
