OREANDA-NEWS. February 21, 2012. Representative of Modern-Expo Group, leading player at market of store fixture in Eastern and Central Europe, head of export department Andriy Kolpakov attended a meeting with newly appointed Minister of Finance of Ukraine Valery Khoroshkovsky. The event was organized by European Business Association, a member of which Modern-Expo used to be.

The meeting was unprecedented in terms of its attendance: more than 300 representatives of EBA member companies, and EU Embassies joined the event. Apart from Mr Khoroshkovsky the speakers' panel included Ambassador Jose Manuel Pinto Teixeira, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, EBA President, CEO of Dragon Capital Tomas Fiala and EBA Executive Director Anna Derevyanko.

In his speech and during an interactive Q&A panel, the Minister outlined mid- and long-term strategies of Ukraine's fiscal policy and particularly stressed that close partnership between business and the Government is the blueprint for economic prosperity. On the initiative of Mr Khoroshkovsky a special Strategic Council under the auspices of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine has been created. Mr Khoroshkovsky gave a detailed overview of the most ailing spheres of Ukrainian economy, which top the list of business community's concerns. Among them are customs and tax administration, VAT refund, customs delays, corrosive corruption and tax losses carryforward. Importantly, the Minister presented his own ideas and proposals which will help rebalance country's economy as a comprehensive whole and its every element in particular.
