Leningrad NPP Completed Life Extension Project of 4-th Power Unit
OREANDA-NEWS. February 21, 2012. An investment project aimed at extension of service life of the fourth reactor at Leningrad nuclear power plant where holding Titan-2 was the general contractor. January 30 Rosatom issued a decision on accomplishment of the investment project.
In 2008 TITAN-2 holding won a tender and signed a turnkey contract with the value of more than 17 bln. rubles for the full set of work aimed to retrofit power unit No.4 and to prolong its lifetime.
Within the frameworks of design and survey work more than 5,000 detail design sets were issued; several dozens of thousands of equipment items were supplied to provide the power unit’s startup facility.
All the power unit safety systems were restructured at the facility, as well as the unit’s control room, emergency control room, and a back-up diesel power plant. 199 process channels were replaced, the turbine rebucketing was completed, as well as some other works performed. As a result, in the end of 2010, Leningradskaya NPP successfully obtained Rostekhnadzor’s license to prolong the life service period of power unit No.4 by 15 years – until 2025.
